Kathy Kosins upcoming album "Uncovered Soul" has transported the Detroit singer from Mainstream Jazz to groove-oriented soul as she is supported by Gregory Porter and Grammy Award-winning producer Kamau Kenyatta making this effort exciting and enthralling.
Kosins worked as a first-call session singer early in her career with notable artists such as WAS (Not Was), which is the band of current Blue Note Records president Don Was as well as Carrere before embarking on the journey of a successful solo jazz artist. "Uncovered Soul" exudes the mastery if the Detroit-Centric sound brought into the 'here and now' as the songs on the album represent the urban musical landscape of the 70's in Detroit. “Detroit singer Kathy Kosins made a big difference with her soul-drenched jazz songs from her upcoming “Uncovered Soul” album which seems to be the perfect blending of those two genres and a pretty hip thing to do at this time. Produced by Kamau Kenyatta (Gregory Porter), the album features rarely heard songs by Curtis Mayfield or Gene McDaniels plus a couple of original tunes which she co-wrote with Jeff Franzel.
